The Area V FFA Spring Career Development Events were held on March 5, 2009 at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Ga. Floriculture teams and FFA Quiz contestants from Bainbridge High, Hutto Middle and West Bainbridge Middle schools competed in the events.

The Hutto and West Bainbridge team members identified floriculture and bedding plant materials, and took a plant science knowledge test. The Bainbridge High team, in addition to plant identification and the test, had to identify ways to treat unhealthy plants due to pests, nutritional, mechanical or chemical injuries.
The Hutto FFA team consisting of Magen Vaughn, Emmalee Griffin, Nikkie Catt and Savannah Locke placed third in the junior contest. The West Bainbridge FFA team consisting of Courtney Cooper, Allison Holt and Shelby Gordon placed seventh in the junior contest. There were 16 junior teams competing in the contest.
The Bainbridge FFA team consisting of Chace Vaughn, Trevor Green, Steven Crowell and Dustin Bearden placed ninth out of 14 senior teams.

The FFA Quiz Career Development Event is designed to develop personal growth and premier leadership in younger members. They are able to gain recognition for their efforts in learning FFA history and facts as well as parliamentary procedure.
McKenzie Conder (BHS), Hannah Bius (HMS) and Savanna Chason (WBMS) took a written examination that covered the history of FFA and parliamentary procedure.
FFA is a national organization of over 449,000 members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture. FFA is an integral part of the agricultural education program in public schools. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
