Teen Maze to be held September 28, 2009

On Monday September 28th, parents, high school and college students and adult community members will have a chance to experience Teen Maze. Presented by Decatur County Family Connection Youth Development Strategy Team and held in the Coliseum, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm., participants will see first hand the life issues that younger teens face each day.

This is a preview of what 7th and 8th graders will be participating in on Tuesday through Thursday during school hours.

The objectives of Teen Maze are:

    • To stimulate teens to think about potential ramifications of the choices they make and how to handle potential life situations if faced with them
    • To encourage discussion between parents and their teens regarding their values and expectations
    • To provide accurate facts and information to teens without attached value judgments
    • To have fun
    • To promote community collaboration on teen well-being
    • To inform the community, in general, about teen issues
    • To involve the adults in the community in saying “we value young people”

This is a wonderful opportunity not only for the teens but for the community to gain understanding of today's teens. Adult volunteers are need to help. No experience necessary and volunteers can help for a little as 2 hours or for the entire 3 days. For more information, contact Ami Mejia at 229-243-6451 or amejia@bainbridge.edu
