Juvenile assaulted for assumed gang affiliation

Drew Hall At 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday night, Public Safety Officer G. Hines responded to Lord Avenue in response to two juveniles assaulting another juvenile. The 911 dispatch had advised that one juvenile was assaulted by two more who were supposedly representing a gang. When Officer Hines arrived, the juvenile was standing outside with his mother and older sister. He had a swollen left eye and scratches and a small contusion on his head.
The assaulted juvenile said that one assailant who lives on Carter Street and the other assailant, who lives on Simms Street, assaulted him because he was wearing a red shirt. The complainant said the two males said they representing a gang and "were going to whoop his *obscenity* for wearing a red shirt."
The juvenile said they then struck him in the face and head area, leaving him with a swollen right eye and contusion on his head. He was transported to the hospital by his mother to have his injuries evaluated.
Bainbridge Public Safety officials stated that at least one of the juveniles was 10 years old.
