At last! Another installment of "Ridin' with the Georgia State Patrol "series. Saturday night left no doubt that while one may not always be on scene, the Troopers of Post 14 are. Riding with the "Boys in Blue" always leaves one with a certain sense that while on the highways of Georgia, one can be confident that Law Enforcement is just a quick call away. Tonight's cast are Troopers Tucker, Hall , Jackson and yes, the Duke. Tuck will be chaufeurring one tonight, in the front seat of course!!
We start our night down on the Southwest side of Seminole/Decatur county line area with a Road Check which is easy enough, or so one would think. One would believe when a group of Law Enforcement vehicles are parked on the side of the road, flashing lights on, and Troopers stopping vehicles in front of you..... Stopping with dignity would be high on the list. But not always so. Especially in the case of a woman and her son coming from Bainbridge heading home with what looked like pizza for dinner. Screeching to a halt for a quick license check shows that Mom had a few appetizer drinks before the main course... and you guessed it!! Her next course was straight to Decatur Co. Jail. DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE.
Clipping along during the road check now and traffic is slowing down to a few every 15 minutes or so. Our next contestant was hoping the Blue Lights are for a traffic accident. The accident is he forgot to leave his Marijuana and crack pipe at home tonight. This suspect now has the attention of all the Troopers and has won the "Most Co-operative Suspect of the Night Award". A very complying young man one must say, in fact quite a talker. Dare one say a "Chattie Cathy" (very funny Brendan). Tropper Hall has two on board for the jump to light speed on down Jail Way Avenue and we are waiting for the tow trucks. And waiting. And waiting...ok there they come we can leave now.
Into Donalsonville we ride for a quick fill up of gas and beverage, then off to another location. Getting close to last call for the evening, but wait! Is that car weaving? Another traffic stop and no, no you can't drive even though you haven't had a drink in over two hours. No, no you can't drive even though you tested over the legal alcohol limit. and really, no you can't drive home even though you are under the age of 21!! DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE AS A MINOR EITHER.
Your still waiting to hear about the HOTTIE, aren't you. Seminole County Sheriff's Department has a young, vivacious female officer that is new to the area. She is still a rookie with some moves to learn, but her moves right now will keep one's eyes locked on her at all times. And so will the suspects. Ladies and Gentlmen, all the way from the country of Holland is Mari, a 14 month old German Shepard drug dog teamed up with Deputy Hank Bagwell. Both are new partners and one wishes them a long sucessful career together.
Thanks again to the Georgia State Patrol, Post 14 and Troopers Jay Tucker, Charles Hall, John Jackson and yes, even Kyle Duke. Where is the Prince?
