    Vehicle accident in Climax

    Just before 1:00 pm. today, a two vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 262 and 84 East in Climax, Ga. The driver of a blue Chevrolet Astro van, one Bobby Lee Harris of Havana, Fl., travelling South on Highway 262, was attempting to get through the intersection. Travelling East on Hwy. 84, one Stella Rogers of Jakin, Ga. swerved as far as possible to miss Mr. Harris, but was unable to avoid him crashing into the front left side of her Dodge Nitro SUV .

    Both cars took severe damage to the front ends and additional damage to the side panels, but thankfully no fatalities. The Georgia State Patrol, Decatur County Sherrif's Department, Climax Fire and Decatur County Fire/Rescue responded within moments. Decatur County EMS was dispatched to the scene for injuries to Mrs. Rogers, who also had another female occupant and child in the vehicle, but no details were given on their condition. Mrs. Harris was taken to the Bainbridge Memorial Hospital, Mr. Harris sustained no apparent injuries.

    Georgia State Troopers Kirkus and Palmer arrived at the scene to find the wreck covering a lengthy amount of Hwy 84, with the Dodge Nitro coming to a complete stop some 200 yards away from contact with the Astro van. Trooper Kirkus found Mr. Harris at fault for failing to yield to oncoming traffic. Details were not available at the time if Mr. Harris will have any further charges as this investigation will take a little time.
