SowegaLive At about 10:15 p.m. an armed gunman entered Mr. Pips in Bainbridge on U.S. 27 North and stole $150-$200. Store Clerk Lisa Ward said that the robber entered the north entrance screaming "B**** open the drawer." Mrs. Ward described the robber as a black male around 180lbs with a medium build. He was armed with a small revolver and had a gray mask on.
As Mrs. Ward emptied the registers drawer she pushed the silent alarm to alert authorities of the robbery. After the robber got the money from the register he demaned two customers in the store hand over their wallets as well, but ran off before he retrieved them. Mrs. Ward and the two customers in the store each said the robber seemed very nervous. It is believed that he fled north of the store.
Tracking dogs from ACI in Sneads Flordia were called in but lost the scent a couple hundred yards north of the store. Moments later Miller County Sheriff deputies spotted a Mazda driving suspicously on U.S. 27 North and followed it as it turned onto Highway 310. He initiated a traffic stop on Highway 310. The passenger in the car met the description of the robber and was held until Decatur County Sheriffs deputies could arrive. They discovered the same amount of money that was stolen in the mans pockets but without enough evidence they released him.
The case is still under investigation.
