First Christian Church of Bainbridge, which currently has about 80 members, has been very active in the community since its conception. The church, which has become more and more involved with the community each year, welcomes you to come attend any of their worship services or fellowship services.
November 4, 1920, a group of eight Christians led by Dr. W.R. Howell and Ben Kirbo, established a Christian Church in Bainbridge. The church began meeting in City Hall, then shortly in the County Courthouse later that month.
By 1925 a building was purchased at the corner of Broughton and Clay Street. The church called its first full-time minister and built a parsonage next to the church building in 1928. March of 1956 the church relocated to the current property at 908 South Scott Street. In the 1960’s an educational wing was added along with a new sanctuary to seat up to 400 people.
Three and a half years ago the church called Jeff Stapleton, who is currently a member of the local ministers association, to be their minister. Over the years the church has become more involved in community activities such as Faith in Action, Rivers Alive, and the Ladies Circle. Recently the church hired Damon Edwards to be Youth Minister. Damon Edwards is the first youth minister in the history of the church. Under Edwards supervision the church has built a highly active youth ministry.
The church, which was has a current membership of 80 people, is presently offering worship services during the following hours: Sunday school - 10:00 a.m., Sunday worship service - 11:00 a.m., Sunday Night Worship - 6:00 p.m., Wednesday night Youth Group - 6:00 p.m., Wednesday Night Adult bible study - 7:00 p.m., and Thursday night Small Group Bible Study - 7:00 p.m. Pastor Jeff Stapleton and his congregation welcome you to attend any of their Worship or Bible Study services.
