Lake Seminole Fishing Report for April 25, 2010

Lake Seminole - down 6 inches, 76 degrees, stained

Bass Fishing - Good.  The bass are nearing the end of the spawn and most fish are on their way back out to their post spawn areas. Some fish can still be caught near sand, but as the water continues to warm they will head for deeper water.

Falcon Cara T7Fish areas near sand with grass present, whether it is milfoil or hydrilla.  Spring creek is your best bet when looking for grass, because the edges of the sandbars will always have some type of vegetation near them. The best way to catch fish once you find these areas, is on a Spro McStick Jerkbait in Blue Bandit color. You can either fish the bait on a baitcaster or spinning outfit, but I prefer a spinning outfit because you can use lighter line which allows the bait to run a little deeper. Falcon's Cara T7 rod for jerkbaits is a great choice when using this technique.

Work the jerkbait on these grasslines with a fast jerking method to try and draw a reaction strike from these lethargic post-spawners. If the jerkbait bite slows down, then you can work these same areas with a Carolina-rig and a long leader. On the C-rig, make sure to use flourocarbon line with a mono leader. A heavy 3/4 or 1 oz bullet weight works best for this technique. For the bait to use, just keep it simple and go with a 6" Big Bite Baits Finesse worm in green pumpkin on a 3/0 Gamakatsu off-set shank hook. I like the BioBait formula because fish will bite and not let go.
